Titan becomes first Marine Survey contractor to invest in new Dual Head RESON SeaBat T51 Multibeam from Teledyne Marine

October 2021 – Titan Surveys are pleased to announce a significant investment to upgrade their hydrographic survey vessel Titan Endeavour, with the new flag ship Teledyne RESON SeaBat T51 Dual Head MBES.

The SeaBat T51 is the latest in the T Series from Teledyne RESON and brings with it the unique introduction of a dedicated 700 - 800kHz full swath array, which operates independent to the lower frequency 350-430kHz array used for collecting data at deeper depths.  With beam widths as small as 0.25 across-track x 0.5 along track, the system gives significantly improved resolution over lower frequency systems, without a reduction in swath coverage.

“There is real science behind the enhancements Teledyne RESON have brought to the latest member of the T-Series" explained Ed Cheesman of Teledyne Marine.  “Rather than taking an array designed to ping at lower frequency and forcing it to emit at higher frequency (a shortcut which limits useable swath width due to excessive side lobes), Teledyne RESON's engineers have added a separate dedicated array specifically designed to ping at higher frequencies, giving optimal response and yielding clear, useable data right out to 150-degree swath.  It is great to see Titan embrace this positive enhancement bringing superior results to their clients. With 1024 beams per head, a dual head system emits a whopping 2048 beams, meaning Titan will benefit from data resolution and density like never before".

“Titan are raising the bar in data resolution and data density, which our clients can now come to expect from their multibeam surveys" said Darren Robertson, General Manager of Titan Surveys.  “This significant upgrade will ensure we continue to lead the field when it comes to delivering the best possible bathymetric data in the most efficient manner. Titan have always taken great pride in high quality data and delivering a highly dependable survey solution to our clients and this investment will only enhance our capabilities. We see significant advantages and improvements for asset integrity inspections, object detection requirements and high-resolution seabed mapping activities to our clients in the Offshore Wind, Oil and Gas and Subsea Cable markets. We see this investment as game changing and helps to maintain our position as a 'Go-To' survey contractor of choice for our clients."
