Founded in Iceland in 1999, the Gavia program was started as a joint development with the University of Iceland. First sales of the Gavia vehicle occurred in 2000 to domestic customers in Iceland. In 2007 Hafmynd received the prestigious Icelandic Innovation Award from The Icelandic Centre for Research (Rannís) and the Trade Council of Iceland. Teledyne Gavia, a proud member of the Teledyne Technologies family since 2012, is part of a $5 billion global leader in industrial growth markets.

Teledyne Gavia has established itself as a market leader in the production of Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs), including the Gavia, Osprey, and SeaRaptor class AUVs, which are deployed in military, commercial, and scientific applications worldwide.

Teledyne Gavia is deeply attuned to the operational demands of military and security users. Since the introduction of the second-generation Gavia system in 2003, we have amassed extensive experience in mine countermeasures (MCM) and other naval applications, ensuring our solutions meet the highest standards of performance and reliability.

Teledyne Gavia provides turnkey survey solutions to customers undertaking a variety of tasks for military, commercial and scientific applications. The Gavia AUV can carry an array of sensors and custom payload modules that make it an optimal solution for any research, monitoring or surveillance task where autonomy, cost and ease of deployment matters. Its modular design allows for rapid sensor reconfiguration and battery replacement. Teledyne Gavia is the sole owner of the Gavia, Osprey, and SeaRaptor design and IP rights, and controls the development, production, and marketing of all three systems.
