Strengthening UK Support for Undersea Awareness, Maritime Security, and Infrastructure Protection
Teledyne Marine is pleased to announce plans to open a new Vehicles Support Centre in Plymouth in October 2026, reinforcing its long-term commitment to UK defence, maritime security, and undersea infrastructure protection. With the lease signed, keys in hand, and site preparations underway, the facility will expand local support capabilities for Royal Navy, government, research, and commercial customers operating in demanding maritime environments.
Located near HMNB Devonport and Plymouth's growing marine technology cluster, the Plymouth Vehicles Support Centre will provide maintenance, field support, training, technical assistance, and rapid deployment services. The investment will expand local engineering and support roles while helping operators improve mission readiness, reduce downtime, and make informed operational decisions.
As a long-standing Royal Navy supplier and trusted global defence and maritime partner, Teledyne Marine's Plymouth expansion strengthens UK sovereign capability, maritime resilience, and supply chain responsiveness.
The centre complements existing UK support infrastructure in Fareham and Southampton, creating a national network supporting Gavia AUVs, Slocum gliders, APEX profiling floats, and other autonomous ocean sensing technologies. This capability is underpinned by multiple In-Service Support (ISS) agreements supporting autonomous underwater vehicles, gliders, and profiling floats, providing through-life engineering, logistics, maintenance, training, and operational support that helps customers maximise availability, mission readiness, and operational effectiveness.

The Plymouth Vehicles Service Facility is currently being prepared for opening, with fit-out, commissioning, and operational readiness activities underway ahead of its planned October launch.
