Mike Read Visits Indonesia & Philippines for Future Deep Water Sonar Opportunities

Mike Read, President of Teledyne Marine paid a visit to Manila, Philippines and Jakarta, Indonesia, 9-12th December.

During a visit to the Philippine Navy Headquarters at Cavite Mike met with the Fleet Operational Commander, Admiral Carlo Bacordo to discuss ongoing and future requirements of the Philippine Navy particularly with respect to port security.


Accompanied by the Managing Director Sea & Land Technologies (SALT), Singapore, Zach Thomas, during the visit to Jakarta, Mr Read met with the Chairman of Lembaga Ilmu Pengetahuan Indonesia (LIPI), L.T. Handoko, to discuss future deep water sonar opportunities.


During the visit to Jakarta (and again accompanied by SALT) Mike also met with the Operations Staff of Badan Pengkajian Penerapan Teknologies (BPPT) to discuss the recent installation of an HSDS deep water sonar and other related instruments aboard the Baruna Jaya 1 research vessel. BPPT were extremely complimentary with respect to the operational performance of the system, and the support they received from Teledyne Marine and SALT during the installation and commissioning, which has continued now the vessel is in full active service.
