Designed for Deep Water Vessel of Opportunity Operations

Teledyne Marine has announced the launch of the SeaBat D100, the first model in its new D Series, a deep water multibeam product line, ahead of Oceanology International 2026.

Backed by decades of real-world deepwater multibeam deployment, the SeaBat D100 brings the renowned data quality, resolution, and reliability of the SeaBat portfolio into a compact, highly flexible deep-water configuration.

Designed specifically for surface vessels operating on water depths down to 3000 metres, the D Series has been developed with portability in mind. The smallest configuration (2°x1.5°) makes it suitable for Vessel of Opportunity (VoO) or even USV type projects. Unlike traditional deep-water systems that typically require dedicated survey vessels and permanent installation, the SeaBat D100 features a compact sonar head and a compact topside processor.

Its reduced footprint enables pole mounting, making it ideal for temporary mobilisations and multi-vessel operations. Supplied with installation-optimised cabling as standard, an optional mounting bracket is also available to further streamline deployment and minimise integration time. While the D100 can also be hull-mounted, its pole-mount capability provides operators with significantly greater flexibility across fleets.

The SeaBat D100 features beam stabilisation technology, automatically compensating for vessel motion to maintain uniform swath coverage and consistent data quality, even in challenging sea states. With resolution maintained consistently across the full depth range, the sonar system delivers reliable, repeatable results. Multi ping capability further enhances performance by increasing along-track density – increasing coverage rates and improving productivity to ultimately reduce ship time.  A modern user interface also improves usability and operational control.

“The D Series represents a significant evolution in our deep water offering," said Pim Kuus, Senior Hydrographer and Product Manager of Instruments & Imaging at Teledyne Marine. “With the SeaBat D100, we are delivering the high-resolution performance our customers expect from SeaBat, but in a compact and deployment-flexible form factor. It enables true deep-water capability from vessels that previously could not accommodate traditional systems."

The SeaBat D100 has already attracted interest, and is available to purchase. Teledyne Marine invites Oi26 attendees to stand F100 where the SeaBat D100 will be presented as a scale model and demonstrate how the system can be easily rack mounted onto a vessel.
