A donation from Teledyne RESON is helping support long-term research into the movements and behavior of Atlantic bluefin tuna returning to Danish waters.
Teledyne RESON has chosen to support the tuna tagging project led by DTU Aqua in collaboration with the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences and the Danish Tuna Association. Running since 2016, the project brings researchers and recreational anglers together to build knowledge about the Atlantic bluefin tuna that have returned to Danish waters.
During the annual fieldwork near Læsø and Helsingør, anglers help locate and catch the tuna before trained teams tag and release them. The electronic tags record pressure, light and temperature.

Over almost a decade, approximately 800 tunas have been tagged with the involvement of approximately 800 volunteers across 100 boats. The resulting data is providing valuable insight into how long the fish remain in Danish waters, where they travel afterwards and where they spawn – in areas of the Mediterranean Sea near Mallorca, Sardinia, Tunisia and the Adriatic Sea.
By supporting the project, Teledyne RESON is contributing to continued research and a stronger scientific understanding of this remarkable species and its presence in Danish waters.
